SCHOLLEVAAR CAPELLE

Schollevaar - Hibex

Project: Capelle Schollevaar

Kokon Architecten Rotterdam

Ballast Nedam Bouw commissioned by SGBB / Ballast Nedam Bouw West

Wednesday November 19th 2008 marked the first pole in the ground for the construction of new senior housing.

With this, Ballast Nedam Bouw and SGBB gave the go-ahead for reviving the station area at the North side. 136 life-resistant houses will be built, a neighborhood support facility and care facilities. In addition, the entire station area will be redesigned, which will give the entire area a significant quality impulse.

The expansion of the current senior housing complex takes place at a former office location opposed to Schollevaar station. The heavily noisy facades will be made fully sealed and through an atrium, the houses are made accessible. The public area will be decorated as a garden. This will make the route to the station friendlier and safer. A car park is included in the base of the building.

The apartments of Capelle Schollevaar consists of prefab elements, made by Hibex.  Every hour, two elements are attached. These elements were poured against a structure mold. The Schollevaar was to receive a rusty appearance. To this end, a structure mold was used (travertine) and red-brown sand was scattered over the surface in addition to the use of pigment.
