The construction of these residential buildings, designed by Tangram Architects, started in October 2005. The first pile was driven on 18 November.
As from summer 2010, Cité offers living and working space to young, ambitious people. Cité is a residential and meeting place for students (graduates), starters and young, up and coming entrepreneurs.
Cité represents an intercommunication environment and space for individual development, ambition and pleasure.
The building consists of two towers measuring 75 and 84 metres. These towers are interconnected by the substructure. The Cité building also has a link connecting to the INHolland College of Professional Education.
The entire project comprises 1600 facade elements made by Hibex, which were transported from Groningen and placed in Rotterdam. Some of the elements are so-called ‘sandwich’ elements. As well as an outer wall, these elements also have an inner wall plus a cavity wall and come complete with frames and glass. Delivered ready for installation.
The facade elements are mainly executed in the colour green. The dosage was primarily chromium oxide green with one part Bayferrox® iron oxide black 360. This mixture is applied to CEM III C cement from CEMEX. No fly ash will be added to the mixture.
